Scheduled Overnight Adventure Trips

Take a guided backpacking trip into beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park with an experienced backcountry guide. Every Wednesday we will have a guided backpacking trip for individuals or groups who enjoy the camaraderie of camping and an adventure in the great outdoors. Our knowledgeable and professional guides will take you to your backcountry destination, set up camp and prepare your meals, while also offering fishing guidance, where available. All hikes are moderate and about 4 to 5 miles in distance, one way. Everyone with an outdoor spirit is welcome! Please see the schedule below.

$250/person
Includes all backpacking gear, food, guide and transportation.

July 2, 2008 - July 3, 2008
Odessa Lake:
Hike to the beautiful, remote high mountain Odessa Lake, at 10,020 ft, beginning at Bear Lake and coming out at Fern Lake Trailhead. The fishing is wonderful at Odessa for those who wish to fish, and the scenery breathtaking. Campers may also day hike to Spruce and Loomis Lake. It is a 3.9 mile hike from Bear Lake with a 570 ft elevation gain to Odessa, with a total 1,125 ft climb and 4.9 miles, with a 1,870 ft loss from Odessa to Fern Lake Trailhead. This hike is classified as easy to moderate. This hike can accommodate up to 6 campers.

July 9, 2008 - July 10, 2008
Finch Lake:
This trip takes you into the remote mountains of Wild Basin to Finch Lake, at 9,912 ft. The hike is 4 miles, with a 1,432 ft elevation gain. Campers may fish for Greenback Cutthroat trout in Cony Creek, which runs beside the campsite or hike up to the pristine alpine Pear Lake. This trip can accommodate up to 10 hikers and is classified as moderate.

July 16, 2008 - July 17, 2008
Andrews Creek:
Andrews Creek backcountry site is nestled in the dense forest above Loch Vale Lake, and lies between Andrews Creek and Icy Brook, where campers can fish for Cutthroat Trout or day hike to nearby Andrews Glacier or the pristine high alpine lakes of Lake of the Glass and Sky Pond. This hike is 3.3 miles to the site, with a 1,320 ft elevation gain, and may accommodate up to 6 campers.

July 23, 2008 - July 24, 2008
Glacier Gorge:
Glacier Gorge backcountry site sits along side Glacier Creek, just above Mills Lake. Campers can enjoy fishing the creek, Mills Lake or day hiking up to Black Lake or to the breathtaking Frozen and Shelf Lakes. This hike is 3.5 miles, with a 760 ft gain, and is considered easy to moderate. Up to 6 campers may do this trip.

July 30, 2008 - July 31, 2008
Aspen Meadow:
Backpack into the less traveled Mummy Range to Aspen Meadow backcountry site, situated along the North Fork of the Big Thompson River. Campers may enjoy fishing the North Fork or day hiking up to Lost Falls or Lost Lake. This hike is 5.9 miles, with a 1,560 ft elevation gain, and is considered moderate. Up to 10 campers may do this trip.

August 6, 2008 - August 7, 2008

Upper Chipmunk:
Upper Chipmunk backcountry site is located at beautiful Ypsilon Lake just past the Roaring River. Campers can fish the Lake or the Roaring River, or just enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The hike is 4.2 miles, with a 2,100 ft elevation gain, and is rated moderate to difficult. Up to 6 campers may do this trip.

August 20, 2008 - August 21, 2008
Glacier Gorge:

Spruce Lake lies between the tranquil Fern Creek and Spruce Creek. While the backcountry site is nestled amongst the spruce and fir trees, the Lake offers breathtaking mountain views. Campers may fish the Lake, or day hike to the spectacular Loomis Lake. This hike is 4.6 miles, with a 1,515 ft. elevation gain, and is considered moderate. Up to 6 campers may do this hike.

September 10, 2008 - September 11, 2008
Ouzel Lake:
Spend the night under the clear, starlit skies at Ouzel Lake, in the remote Wild Basin mountains. This trip will take you past 3 spectacular waterfalls, breathtaking views and a trek through the 1982 Fire Burn, following Ouzel Creek. Hikers may fish the creek and/or the lake, or day hike up to Bluebird Lake. This hike is 4.9 miles, with a 1,120 ft. elevation gain, and is considered moderate. Up to 6 campers may do this trip.

September 17, 2008 - September 18, 2008
Sandbeach Lake:
Sandbeach Lake sits in the shadow of the majestic Mount Meeker, and provides a tranquil setting, with sandy beaches and beautiful views. Campers can fish the lake or day hike to the summit of Mt. Orton. This is a 4.2 mile hike, with a 1,380 ft. elevation climb, and is considered moderate. Up to 6 campers may do this hike.

September 24, 2008 - September 25, 2008
Lost Falls:
The backcountry site of Lost Falls is situated by the falls and along the North Fork of the big Thompson River. Campers can enjoy great fishing in the North Fork, or day hike up to Lost Lake. This hike is 6.7 miles, with a 1,640 ft. elevation gain, and is considered a tougher moderate climb. Up to 6 campers may do this hike.
